I am absolutely in love with these two! I don't want to tell you much more than this, because I don't want to ruin it... These two are smoking hot! Without giving too much away, this is a book that fantasies are made of--a sexy strong hero, a smart gorgeous heroine, and a supporting case full of interesting people. There are some unpredictable turns in the book which makes for a quick read (I couldn't wait to see what happened next) but then there are scenes so lovingly crafted and so supercharged that I read them more than once!~Award-Winning Author Annie Anthony

I started thinking who I would want to read more about from Bakersville, but I decided Ms. Hardt just needs to write about the whole damn town, and I am sure there are neighboring towns as well. Great book

This is a great book. It is part of a series and I couldn't put it down. The writing is amazing and really helps you engage in the book. The book keeps you wondering what is going to happen next. You laugh and you hope right along with the characters. If you are looking for a new series to read I would highly recommend this one.

Great & thought-provoking scholarly volume -- but watch out for the Indian print!

This scholarly volume is both very thoughtful and thought-provoking, with contributions by some of the foremost scholars on Ashoka and the Maurya Empire. But you may want to make sure you get the US/UK print of this book. A number of sellers who are offering this title for a fourth of its regular price are actually selling the Indian print of this book. The Indian version is printed in rather cheap recycled paper, it's poorly bound, and it contains substandard reproductions of the illustrations -- a far cry from the UK & US printed volume. Caveat emptor!

Volatile Bodies demonstrates that the sexually specific body is socially constructed: biology or nature is not opposed to or in conflict with culture. Human biology is inherently social and has no pure or natural "origin" outside of culture. Being the raw material of social and cultural organization, it is "incomplete" and thus subject to the endless rewriting and social inscription that constitute all sign systems.

Examining the theories of Freud, Lacan, Merleau-Ponty, Foucault, Deleuze, Derrida, etc. on the subject of the body, Elizabeth Grosz concludes that the body they theorize is male. These thinkers are not providing an account of "human" corporeality but of male corporeality. Grosz then turns to corporeal experiences unique to women―menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth, lactation, menopause. Her examination of female experience lays the groundwork for developing theories of sexed corporeality rather than merely rectifying flawed models of male theorists.

The mind returns to the body!

Grosz's work is a triumph of corporeal phenomenology. The book discusses the role of the body as it pertains to gender, race and sex. The body is not just an atomic aggregate but rather a lived experience. The first part of the book, "Inside Out," explores the psychoanalytic view of the body whereas the part titled "Outside In" covers society's pressures on the body. Grosz concludes by addressing the differences between the male and female body, and how the body-politic cannot be ignored when disucssing femininsm.
